OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST WARNING ISSUED
Visitors to the Olympic National Forest should use extra caution due recent weather conditions, Evan Jacobson, spokesperson for the ONF said Wednesday in an e-mail press release. Heavy snowfall followed by heavy rains, winds in excess of 100 MPH and warm temperatures caused localized flooding, landslides and debris on forest roads. Many roads are closed and some bridges may not be safe to cross. It is recommended that visitors who were planning a Christmas tree outing this weekend, wait until next weekend, to give our crews time to open roads and assess damage. Information will be provided on the current conditions page after Thursday, Dec. 6. This is the first day our crews have been able to access the major highways to begin clearing roads.
