RAIN FOREST RUN COULD BRING FLOOD OF BIKERS TO FORKS

Drawing bikers to Forks for a summertime rally could boost the coffers on local non-profits and businesses, the City Council was told Monday, Nov. 26.

Local motorcyclists Bob Wishon and Dan Roth are behind what they’re calling the Rainforest Run.

The event is slated for the third weekend of August.

Wishon said most accommodations are already booked, so there will be a focus on having bikers camp out.
He said riders of all makes of motorcycles will be encouraged to come, with a focus on what he called “RUBS” or rich urban bikers.

“We’re hoping for thousands the first year,” he said of the potential turnout.

The men provided the council with attendance counts from the annual Sturgis, South Dakota Harley Davidson gathering and other events.

Roth and Wishon said they have attended the Oyster Run in Anacortes and have seen it grow from a few local bikers to thousands.

Vendors, both local and ones from other areas that cater to motorcyclists, would be invited to participate. The event would also be promoted as alcohol-free, and family-friendly.
