The 631 acres of the refuge include Dungeness Spit, Graveyard Spit, and portions of Dungeness Bay and Harbor. Dungeness Spit is 5 1/2 miles long and very narrow. The narrowest portions measure only 50 feet wide during high tides and sometimes breaches occur.
