Neah Bay’s run-and-gun All Star team will have a big stage to play on Friday night, as they take the court inside Key Arena.
Neah Bay fifth-grader Patience Swan got a little wide-eyed when told that Key Arena holds 18,000 fans, Oly Archibald said.
The Lady Reds will go up against a big Napavine Tiger team as the grade school All Star teams tip off before the Seattle Storm’s WNBA home game against San Antonio.
The youngsters tip off at 2:30 p.m. in a game Archibald said would have all the fanfare of an NCAA tournament game, with the WNBA match at 7 p.m.
An Elite Cheer squad from Monroe will cheer and perform for both teams.
Neah Bay’s game will be broadcast on Forks Radio 1490 AM and on the Internet at forks1490.com.
Archibald and All Skagit County selection Jacqueline Case of Mount Vernon Christian will have the play-by-play.
Forks resident Jay Jennings, a one-time player at Boston College for former Detroit Piston coach Bill Daily, will be the Port Angeles announcer.
The Storm team itself has a few surprises for the teams throughout the night, Archibald said.
Both teams have sold their allotment of 150 tickets.
