The Forks boys soccer team has bounced back from a 1-3 start to the season by winning four straight, including two games last weekend.

The Spartans first beat Eatonville Friday 6-3 behind four goals from Jesus Garcia-Dominguez. They followed up with a 2-0 win over Winlock.

“We had a rough start to the season. We lost nine guys last year,” said coach Ismael Ramos. “This is a brand new team. It’s full of freshmen and sophomores.”

In the Spartans’ opening two losses of the year, they got outscored 17-2. In their last three wins, they’ve outscored their opponents 16-3.

“They’re working together and talking and moving the ball,” said Ramos. “It’s amazing how much they’re improving.”

In Friday’s win, Garcia-Dominguez scored several of his goals on fast breaks. Hector Dominguez scored a goal on a penalty kick and DeAnthony Davila scored on a goal on a crossing pass “that snuck in,” Ramos said.

Saturday’s win was a close, back-and-forth match. The Spartans got their first goal on a quick throw-in by Davila that was collected by Ethan Bello and shot in for a goal. Bello also scored a second goal.

“It was a beautiful shot from 18 yards out that found the back corner,” Ramos said. Hector Dominguez collected the shutout in goal.

Forks (4-2 Pacific 2B League, 5-3 overall) takes a break until April 13 when the Spartans go on the road to play Hoquiam.
