Cherish Our Children is once again upon us. Experience excellent food, local vendors and both live and silent auctions at the Akalat Center in LaPush on Friday, Dec. 5, starting at 5 p.m. So, what’s cookin’? Smoked salmon fettuccini, richly embellished artisan flatbread, clam chowder, fry bread or a big salmon plate.
You choose. Of course there will be hot dogs and spaghetti for the kiddos. Just as important, who’s cookin’? Zach George from River’s Edge and Rick Reaves from the Inn Place will be in the kitchen, so get ready to have some fresh local seafood, prepared to perfection by some excellent local chefs. What could be better on a cold November evening?
There’s all the excitement of a live auction, plus several fast-moving tables of silent auction goods for your holiday shopping pleasure. Local vendors, including Native artisans, will be there to enhance the experience. There will be pictures with Santa and a bake sale so you can carry some goodies and a memory or two off home with you.
Remember, the proceeds from this go to the children in our communities who might not otherwise have much of a Christmas, so you’re helping a good cause while you help yourself to a delightful evening of food and Christmas shopping.
It’s not too late to contribute items for either of the auctions. Cherish Our Children accepts new or gently used items (except clothing), artwork, baked goods and crafts. If you have something you’d like to contribute, call Sharon Penn at 374-4278 or 374-3197 for details.
