Peninsula College is proud to host “Dia de Culturas: Celebrating Latin American Diversity” at the Forks Campus on Oct. 15, in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. This year’s theme is Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.
“Diversity is our strength,” community collaborators involved in the event said. “We are a varied community, from many different areas and climates. We speak different languages and have different traditions.”
The free event is being organized by the local Latino community and will showcase the diversity within Latin America. Día de Culturas will display and share a variety of foods, games, traditional cooking methods, crafts, traditional clothing, dance, music, and more. The community collaboration said they believe that cultural awareness and traditions can create a sense of stability and connection: they can happen in a positive, routine manner, which helps promote well-being.
Join us for the first Día de Culturas, support and connect with your community, and help us make it an annual event! This event will take place on Oct. 15, from 3 – 7 p.m., at the Forks Peninsula College campus.
The event is free and open to the public.
