Joel E. Dahlgren

1930 – 2023

Joel was born to Joe and Edna Dahlgren on August 28, 1930 in Bellingham, Washington and raised on a dairy farm near Everson. He graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1948 and married Ingrid Lindberg in 1950. After graduation he started driving dump truck and then log truck. In November 1951 he was snowed out of the Cascades and came to Forks for steady work after the Forks Fire. He planned on working only the winter but he never left.

He bought a used log truck in 1954, hauling for all the loggers in the area. That truck had the first twin exhaust stacks on the Peninsula and they both had to have smoke coming out of them.

In 1964 he started logging with a partner. In 1966 he and Ingrid started Dahlgren Logging Company, which he was still active in at the time of his death. Dahlgren Logging has operated and prospered for 57 years. Joel was proud that the company he started involves four generations and is planning to continue on.

Joel was preceded in death by his wife Ingrid, daughter Linda Marlar and daughter-in-law Cheryl Dahlgren. He is survived by sons Pete(Cheri) Dahlgren, and John Dahlgren, daughter JoMarie (Butch) Miller, son-in-law Jerry Marlar and 11 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life on August 5th at 2 PM, on the Dahlgren Farm, 1666 Bogachiel Way in Forks.
