The ONRC evening talk series is back with a presentation by the ONRC intern crew. Each year, ONRC hosts a summer field internship for students interested in topics such as forestry, ecology, social science, and environmental policy. Interns spend nine weeks living and working on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula and participate in a wide range of forest ecology and management experiments.

This year, five University of Washington undergraduate students have spent their summer working on several projects including the Type 3 Watershed Experiment, the long-term ecosystem productivity study, and the ethnoforestry field trials. Each project has allowed them to learn more about forest management, scientific study design, field measurements, and the big picture of how research connects to management.

They will be presenting an evening talk on their summer work, including details on each research site, the data collection process, and what they learned along the way.
