A fault on a Bonneville Power Administration line cut power late Friday afternoon just after 4 p.m. to at least 5,600 Clallam Public Utility District customers on the West End.
While a BPA crew left from Olympia a local Clallam County PUD crew was dispatched to search the BPA lines for the problem. BPA spokesperson Doug Johnson told the Forks Forum on Monday, “We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Clallam County PUD crew. Their help identifying the problem before our crew got there resulted in the outage time being shorter.”
Although the line was not broken, Johnson said a tree on the line was what caused the outage and the line to arc out.
Electrical power was restored to West End customers by 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
