This week in 1999 the ONRC was hosting a Wolf Introductory Meeting. Hoh area resident Marilyn Lewis had offered a ‘no wolf introductory’ letter to the Editor. The West End had two power outages in a week. It was reported the timber industry was facing a downturn. Heidi’s School of Dance was going to present Aladdin. KVAC/KLLM station owner Al Monroe was recognized as the Spartan business of the month (photo).

In 1974 Forks pre-schoolers had visited the radio station (photo). The Spartan basketball team was featured in a photo (photo). Alice’s Apparel was having a going-out-of-business sale. The Forks Chamber of Commerce meeting was held in the dark, after the power had gone out the meeting continued. The Library roof was leaking and ruining the books. A new roof was planned. Former Forks resident and mill owner Roy Huling had died. He was called a pioneer in the Shingle Industry.

In 1952 the low bidder for the new Forks grade school was Eiford Construction out of Bellingham. The bid was $261,235. Town birth and death statistics had been released …for 1951 there had been 78 births and 21 deaths. Spartan Ronnie Brown had scored 29 points to lead the Spartans in a victory over the Clallam Bay Bruins.
