Clallam County Auditor Shoona Riggs announced that 8,700 more general election ballots will be counted Friday, adding to the 13,761 tallied Tuesday.
Clallam County Commissioner Race
As of Tuesday, Mark Ozias was leading with 7,043 votes, or 53.69 percent, to Jim McEntire’s 6,076 votes, or 46.31 percent.
McEntire acknowledged that Election Night outcomes typically don’t change but is holding out hope for a surge in votes from Sequim and the West End.
Port Race
On Election Night, Connie Beauvais of Joyce, operator and manager of the Crescent Water Association, had 6,564 votes, or 57.97 percent, to Forks City Council member Michael Breidenbach’s 4,759 votes, or 42.03 percent, for the Port of Port Angeles West End District 3 position.
Forks City Council
Olympic National Park ranger Jon Preston was leading Christina Kohout in the race for Forks City Council, Position 5, as of Tuesday night.
Preliminary returns showed Preston ahead of Kohout 132 votes to 82, or 61.68 percent to 38.32 percent.
Council member Juanita Weissenfels ran unopposed. Former Council member Kevin Hinchen, who resigned several months ago, due to moving out of the city limits, received 188 vote.
Levy Lift
A proposed levy for Clallam County Fire District 1 — looked to be passing by a narrow margin on Election Night.
The levy measure, had 269 Clallam County votes to approve it plus three Jefferson County voters for it.
Casting ballots to reject it were 227 voters in Clallam and four in Jefferson.
Hospital District #1 Board of Commissioners Race
As of Tuesday’s vote count incumbent Donald Lawley was leading write-in opponent Patty Birch 371 to 207.
