While on the tour at Forks High School on Friday, with the Public Lands Commissioner and others, we took a look at the ‘one million dollar’ Spartan Stadium bathrooms …that is correct one million.
So I wondered what other expensive bathrooms are out there …
If you ever go to Bel Air, Los Angeles, there is a mansion there with a bathroom that cost $188 million to build.
In 2001 jeweler Lam Sai-wing built a bathroom in his Hong Kong shop, Swisshorn Gold Palace, and it is listed in the Guinness World Records. The bathroom is made entirely of gold and precious jewels and cost $27 million. (Probably worth more now?)
It includes toilet bowls, wash basins, toilet brushes, toilet paper holders, mirror frames, wall-mounted chandeliers, wall tiles, and doors all made from solid 24-carat gold. The ceiling is decorated with ruby, sapphire, emerald, and amber, the floor has embedded 900 g (2 lb) gold bars.
Personally, I am not sure how well a gold toilet brush would work.
Currently, the costliest toilet ever assembled is sitting high in the International Space Station. In 2020, NASA launched a $23 million commode into space to test out its functionality on the ISS.
Superintendent Reaume shared that there is nothing made of gold or diamond encrusted in these Spartan restrooms, it is sadly the cost of getting something built these days.
Thomas Crapper, a 19th-century English plumber and businessman, is often credited with inventing the toilet ….he did not invent the modern toilet, but he was a key figure in its development. Crapper patented several toilet-related inventions, including the ballcock, an improved tank-filling mechanism that’s still used in toilets today. He also invented the U-shaped trap in 1880, which replaced the S-shaped trap invented by Alexander Cumming in 1775.
So when you go to an event at Spartan Stadium and have to go …know that you are using probably the most expensive toilet in the county? or maybe the West End at least.
I wonder what Thomas Crapper would think?
