Joyce, WA – The annual Joyce Daze Wild Blackberry Festival returns on Saturday, Aug. 3, promising a day filled with community spirit and culinary delights. Held in Joyce, WA, just 14 miles west of Port Angeles along Washington’s scenic State Route 112, the festival is a highlight of the summer calendar.
Visitors flock to Joyce Daze for its renowned wild blackberry pies, freshly baked using local berries. Organizers anticipate baking over 200 pies, each sliced into six portions for a total of more than 1,200 servings. Pies will be available starting at 10 am, with options for adding ice cream, priced at $7 and $8 respectively. Any remaining pies will be sold after the parade, with proceeds benefiting scholarships and community projects.
Entirely run by volunteers, the festival has been meticulously organized since March. Vendor booths are already fully booked, and preparations for activities like the pancake breakfast, live entertainment, and the popular Extreme Slug Races are well underway.
“We’re excited to welcome everyone to another fantastic Joyce Daze,” said festival coordinator Brian, urging potential parade participants to visit joycedaze.org for registration details.
From the early morning pancake breakfast at Crescent Grange to the closing button drawing at 3:30 pm, the festival offers something for everyone. Local bands will provide live music throughout the day, and the thrilling Extreme Slug Races will follow the parade at the Family Kitchen.
For those with a competitive spirit, the Wild Blackberry Pie Contest invites entries from all ages, including a youth category for participants aged 10-17. Entries can be submitted at the Joyce Museum tent next to the Joyce Depot between 10 and 11 am on August 3rd.
More information about the festival can be found at joycedaze.org or by following the event on Facebook at Joyce Daze Wild Blackberry Festival.
