This wasn’t exactly the Olympics and no the game wasn’t played in Paris France and the Peacock channel never showed it … but it mattered not as the youngsters ranging in ages four to six showcased their skills at soccer in West End Youth League acton July 30 on the school practice field.
It was the dreaded Tigers in orange against the Blueberries in blue. The Blueberries in blue, well that makes sense. No, there weren’t a lot of scores made but what a contest it was as these youngsters hustled not only within the playing field boundaries but even chasing the ball beyond the boundary markers.
In two situations the Tigers even scored for the Blueberries as they kicked the ball into the wrong net. They found it easier that way as there was no goalkeeper in the way. All in all it was an exciting evening for these future Spartans along with friends and relatives and who knows maybe these youngsters will be future Olympians.
Altogether there are approximately 200 youngsters involved in youth league soccer and they are all GETTING A KICK OUT OF SOCCER.
