Forks, WA – The River & Ocean Film Festival returns on Oct. 18, 2024, to celebrate the freshwater and marine environments of the west side of the Olympic Peninsula — and the people who love them. Audiences will enjoy film explorations of Olympic Peninsula rivers and shores and learn about the issues facing its habitats and human communities.

After running annually in Forks from 2014 to 2019,in 2020 COVID-19 moved the festival online as a series of three episodes, which are still available to watch here. This year, the festival’s organizing partners are excited to revive the annual coastal tradition in person in Forks, bringing excitement and awareness of coastal communities and ecosystems to the “West End.”

The festival will feature seven films from local filmmakers and cover topics ranging from the restoration of the Quillayute River, to the preservation of the peninsula’s endemic Quinault blueback salmon, to a journey from Mt. Olympus down the Hoh River. The festival will also feature opportunities to interact with select filmmakers.

The 8th Annual River & Ocean Film Festival is free and family-friendly. It will take place at the Rainforest Arts Center located on the corner of Forks Avenue and Division Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and films start at 7:30 p.m. Event details and film lineup are available online.

This year’s event is made possible by the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee, and coordinated by Washington Sea Grant in conjunction with the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, the Clallam County Marine Resources Committee, and the Surfrider Foundation.
