Happy Retirement Lisa!

Last Friday I shared the following post on the Forks Forum Facebook page-

Hello Forks community …

You may not know that after many, many years working at Forks Outfitters Lisa has retired. Lisa didn’t want a fuss so her employer followed her wishes …but I asked Outfitters if they were okay with the Forks Forum making a fuss and they said yes! So …Lisa is one of the sweetest, kindest people on the face of the earth and she will be missed by many of us. She is not on social media but she does have a Forks Forum subscription …so I ask that in the comments please leave good wishes for her retirement and thanks for her many years of checking out our groceries with a smile and I will publish them next week in the Forum …

Well …by Sunday the post had reached over 22,000 people, 1,077 people had taken the time to like/love/wow/or cry about it and 379 had taken the time to leave a comment.

I had hoped to print all the comments in the paper, but I would need an entire “Lisa Edition” so I will share some here and print the rest out and deliver them to her.

Lisa’s kind and sweet disposition during her many years at work as she checked out our groceries goes to show that even a brief moment of positive interaction with someone can make the day better. Comments were even received from people who didn’t know Lisa but were touched by all the kind words bestowed on her like this person from Columbia, South America!

God bless you enjoy your free time doing things you like, I don’t know the store or you, actually I’m from Colombia but in the way they express themselves of you it’s easy to see that they adore you, blessings. Raiza Del Toro, Columbia

And so Lisa here are a few more from customers and co-workers…

Best wishes! She was such a gem. I intentionally would go to her line at the checkout because she was so sweet. It brightened up my day. She will be missed. Calvin Lowery

Wow, this is like a dream. I remember Lisa from my childhood. Spent many summers on the beaches and making runs into Forks for supplies. I never knew her name but you can’t forget that smile! Happy retirement Lisa! Desirae Murphy

Congratulations on retirement! Lisa has the best smile and is always sincere. She’s my favorite cashier and while working there my favorite trainer/coworker! Thanks for everything Lisa and I hope you have a great retirement! Tonya Heil

Holly cow! Congratulations! Out of the five years living in that town and shopping at Thriftway you were the only person to really make me feel like somewhat of a local! You are a treasure. John Adams

Lisa was always so good to me and my kids and so patient anytime my little ones wanted to use their own money to pay for things. She was always so patient I loved being able to see her when I first walked into the store because she worked in the mornings and she would always say good morning. She is such good people. Jen Pearson

I think Lisa was the most kind loyal and trustworthy and the most dependable employee Thriftway ever had! She always followed all the rules and made sure her customers were well taken care of in every way. I’m sad that she’s gone but happy she finally made the choice to retire. She was a joy and a pleasure to work with all those years. She always smiled even when she was having a very bad day. I just can’t say enough good things about her I can’t even think of one bad thing. I will miss her terribly! I love you Lisa. Jane Schmitz

Lisa was one of my favorite checkers, and I would go to her station even if others were empty and I might have to wait a bit. She always was so kind and so helpful and her smile often made a not-so-good day much better. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement! Cheryl Viuhkola-Pelletier

So, happy retirement to you Lisa, we are going to miss you!
