Clallam County’s District Court room in Forks lost 36 years of experience last week, as clerk Sandy Williams and administrator Sandra Bees both left to take new jobs that began Aug. 1.

“We’re losing a lot,” Judge John Doherty said. “Don’t ask me what I’m going to do. These two have kind of been the faces of this court.”

Bees began working in the Forks courtroom after taking a summer job when she graduated from Forks High School 25 years ago.

“It’s the longest summer job I’ve ever heard of,” she said.

She left to take a job working as an accountant for the Quileute Tribe.

Williams worked 11 years in Forks’ highest judicial department.

She and her husband, Larry, are moving to Sequim, where Williams will work in the vehicle and vessel licensing office contracted with Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand’s office.

The office, in the plaza north of JC Penney at 645 W. Washington St., Suite 2, re-opened last fall after a six-month closure.

Steve Brown, a former longtime administrator for the Port Angeles court, took over their duties on an interim basis.

Doherty was appointed to the Forks post in December, replacing Judge Erik Rohrer, who was elected to the Superior Court bench last fall.
