This fall, students at Peninsula College will have an opportunity to earn a Multimedia Communications Journalism Foundations short-term proficiency certificate that will provide an understanding of professional communications grounded in mass media.
Students will learn how print, visual and broadcast communications are created, edited and published on a variety of media platforms. Courses will emphasize workflow, publication of media, analysis of news, entertainment and persuasive storytelling and will help students differentiate among facts, opinion and analysis.
The 19-credit certificate includes the following courses: Media 110, Introduction to Multimedia-Graphics (5 credits); CMST 102, Introduction to Mass Media (5 credits); CMST 121, Photojournalism (5 credits); CMST 197, Internship-Journalism (1 credit); and CMST 286, Introduction to Newspaper Production 1 (3 credits).
