The Forks Food Bank prepared over 200 Thanksgiving food baskets and distributed them on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Forks Congregational Church. Forks Food Bank Director Pat Soderlind and food bank volunteers prepared the boxes and helped wheel them out to the cars of those picking up the baskets. Large cardboard grocery boxes held the Thanksgiving meal makings, which included a frozen turkey. Plastic bags filled with potatoes, onions and other produce provided by the Forks Lions Club was also distributed. Earlier this autumn the Lions Club made its annual trek to Quincy to trade logs from the West End forest for the farming region produce. Sodelind said the food baskets were paid for with dollars donated to the organization along with help from social agency programs.
