Jolene Price and four high school students spoke at the Sept. 7 meeting of the West End Business and Professional Association. They shared information on Youth Substance Abuse Prevention. Speaking to the group were FHS freshmen Kayci Trettevik, Madelyn Archibald, William Fleck and Zach Johansen.
They told the group a little bit about a conference they attended in Las Vegas, Nev., and how they are implementing some of the things they learned.
The program focuses on “Who doesn’t, rather than who does” when it comes to drugs and alcohol. The program also looks at strengthening family programs to help families communicate.
The groups goals are to:
• Reduce youth drinking
• Reduce family conflict
• Introduce favorable norms
Also accompanying Price and the students was QVSD Superintendent Diana Reaume.
