Ed died peacefully at Forks Community Hospital surrounded by family.

Ed was born in Grayson, Kentucky. The fifth son of James Wootson Marion and Jessie Vivian Shay Marion.Ed grew up in Cattlesburg, Kentucky and following graduation from high school, enlisted in the United States Navy on April 1, 1945. In WWII Ed spent most of his enlistment in Guam and the South Pacific.

He participated in the first and second atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll. Following his discharge from the Navy, Ed went to the University of Kentucky and received his degree in Civil engineering. While at the University he joined the Army ROTC program and following graduation, he was immediately commissioned a 2nd LT. and sent to Korea to participate in the Korean Conflict. During the battle of Outpost Harry he was wounded and received a Purple Heart.

After the Korean Conflict was over, Ed was sent stateside to Fort Lawton in Seattle, Washington. At Fort Lawton he was involved in coordinating troop transports. This process brought him to Port Angeles, WA where he fell in love with the Olympic Peninsula.

Following his discharge from the army, attaining the rank of Captain, he went to work at Boeing as a civil engineer.

After 2 years sitting behind a desk, he realized that this was not his passion and applied to the Seattle Police Department. He was accepted and entered the department in 1960. Ed always said that being a member of the Seattle Police department was one of his proudest accomplishments.

While on the police department he met and married Janet Fletcher Marion on March 8, 1968.

Ed retired from the police department in 1972 achieving the rank of Detective. Ed, Janet and their 2 sons, George and David, moved to Forks, WA following his retirement. In Forks, Ed went to work for the United States Postal Service as a window clerk and retired in 1987.

In retirement, Ed was very active at volunteering for the AARP Tax-Aide program and Drivers Education Program.

Being an active Mason was very important to him and

He belonged to many Masonic Lodges and organizations. Mount Olympus Lodge #298, Quilcene Jefferson Lodge #107, Knights Templar, Shriners, Shurtah, Royal Arch, Olympic Chapter #539 National Sojourners and Red Cross of Constantine.

Ed was also a member of Forks Elks Lodge #2524 and was instrumental in the forming of the lodge. He was the first Exalted Ruler.

Ed also belonged to the Seattle Police Guild, Seattle

Police Retirement Association, American Legion, VFW and the DAV.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, son James, brothers James, Orlando and Jack, father-in-law Alvin E. Fletcher and brother in law Craig A. Fletcher. Ed is survived by his wife, Janet L. Marion, sons George C. Marion (Becci) and David F. Marion (Hope), brother George, mother-in-law Mary E. Fletcher, brother-in-law Rockwell D. Fletcher II (Maureen), grandchildren, Haley Marion, Max Marion, Ryan Root, Nicole Marion and Melissa Marion, great-grandchildren Ashlyn and Kaitlyn Marion.

Arrangements are provided by Harper Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, WA (360)452-9701. At his request, there will be no services. The family will hold a Wake at a later date to celebrate his life.

Rest in peace Papa. You were an incredible husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Till we meet again.
