At about 8:30 p.m. Friday night Forks resident Emmett Treichel, age 77, was traveling west on US Highway 101 when his vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, crossed the center line and struck a 2004 F-150 pickup head-on on the Elwha River Bridge.
The pick-up was being driven by 58-year-old Ronald Sund of Edmonds. Also in the Sund vehicle was Bernita Sund, age 56, also of Edmonds.
All person involved were transported to Olympic Medical Center by Aid vehicle.
It was reported by the Washington State Patrol that Triechel may have suffered a medical emergency. The accident is under investigation.
