Menagerie (aka: “The Dog Wine”) now available at Harbinger Winery

Free Tastings at Holiday Open house on Dec. 14

Each year Port Angeles based Harbinger Winery produces a special wine with a goal in mind; to raise funds and awareness for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society. This year’s Menagerie is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and a dash of “Awesome Sauce,” as owner/winemaker Sara Gagnon puts it. “We really want this wine to be approachable, inviting, and satisfying; like a wagging tail or the contented purr of a kitten!” Harbinger will be pouring the wine throughout the month of December, and featuring it at our Holiday Open House on Dec. 14.

For the open house, tasting will be complimentary for anyone over 21, and snacks will be available. “If you’ve never been to Harbinger, this is the perfect time for a visit, and pick up some Menagerie for the wine-drinking pet lover on your list,” states Gagnon. The wine retails for $22 per bottle and is only available at the Harbinger Winery tasting room. All of the profits from this wine are passed on to the OPHS.

The OPHS is currently building a new facility east of Port Angeles with the help of the community. An estimated $400,000 is still needed to complete the budget. The OPHS is unique in that it’s a no-kill, open-admission shelter, which means they don’t turn any animals away. Each year approximately 2000 are brought to the shelter for care, and hopefully adoption.

The success of the OPHS relies solely on the community for adoption and care of the animals surrendered. “Pets add so much to the quality of our lives; it is an honor to be able to give back. I am very proud to be a part of this amazing community,” says Gagnon.
