Building your child’s future…one book at a time

Set your child on the path to success by completing the “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” reading challenge with the North Olympic Library System (NOLS)! A nationwide initiative to encourage parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children, the “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” program will equip the children in your life with essential early-literacy skills. All parents and caregivers with children ages 0-5 are welcome to participate!

To register in the program, visit your nearest NOLS branch library anytime throughout the year and pick up a helpful reading log to track your progress. Participation is free. To cheer you along, NOLS will give away a small prize for every 100 books you and your child read. Earn a Library tote bag when you’ve read 500 books, and a celebratory book at 1,000!

This program is generously supported by the Port Angeles Friends of the Library, the Friends of Sequim Library, the Friends of the Forks Library, and the Clallam Bay Friends of the Library.
