WEST END YOUTH LEAGUE SOCCER SEASON 2017
Sign-ups for WEYL Soccer For ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12+ will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, May 16-17, at the Duncan Fields shed.
Registration fee: $40 per child, that includes a shirt and completion award.

Cancer Survivor Breakfast
There will be a Survivor’s Continental Breakfast from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 29, at the Forks Congregational Church, 280 S. Spartan Ave.
Come join your fellow survivors to support one another and celebrate life. We are not alone!
Kids Fishing Day
West End Sportsmen’s Club announces the Annual Kids Fishing Day will be at 6 a.m.-noon Sunday, May 7, at the Bogachiel Rearing Pond. This free event is open for children 12 and under, with a special area for the youngest anglers, and provides an excellent opportunity for parents or grandparents to spend some quality time with the kids.
There is a 5-fish limit per child; any fish landed is counted — there is no catch-and-release.
Hot coffee and cocoa, hot dogs and donuts will be available. Several Sani-cans will be on site.
While this is a free event, all donations are appreciated; when you see the donation boxes around town, feel free to donate. If you’ve lost your pole and gear, the WESC has a limited number of small poles for lending.
Cowdrey Benefit Event
A dart tournament and silent auction will be Saturday, April 29, at the Clallam Bay Inn, 31 Frontier St., Clallam Bay, to benefit recent fire victim Cara Cowdrey. Sign-ups for the tournament will be from 2-4:30 p.m., the entry fee is $20. All proceeds go to help the Cara Cowdrey Rebuild Fund.
Free Computer Classes
Do you struggle with everyday computer tasks? Would you like to connect with family and friends via social media but just don’t know how? Forks High School senior Autumn Greiner is offering a free computer class for her senior project.
Classes are from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, May 1-31, on a drop-in basis at Peninsula College, 481 S. Forks Ave. For more information or questions, call 360-620-0666.
VOICES FOR VETERANS STAND DOWN
On May 4 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. the Elks Lodge, 941 Merchants Road, will host the annual Veterans Stand Down. It is open to all veterans: homeless veterans, veterans in need and immediate dependent family members. Services and other activities include:
Hot breakfast/hot lunch, employment services, benefits counseling, housing assistance, haircuts, legal aid, health screening/medical-dental, free clothing/bedding/hygiene kits and outdoor equipment and free transportation — through Clallam and Jefferson Transit buses. ‘The Trial ofthe Wicked Witch”
The FHS Drama Club will present “The Trial of the Wicked Witch” at 7 p.m. April 28, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 29 and 2 p.m. April 30. Come hear the evidence, the audience is the jury! General admission is $5 at the door, refreshments will be offered for sale during intermission.
Running of the Rose Pilgrimage
St. Anne Catholic Church, 511 Fifth Ave., will host the Knights of Columbus’ Running of the Rose Pilgrimage from noon-3 p.m. Friday, May 5. Mass will be celebrated, then Eucharistic Adoration and the ceremony will end with the rosary and benediction of Eucharistic Adoration.
Beginning in March, six Silver Roses started their journey across North America, from Canada to the United States to Mexico. The 2017 Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose — One Life, One Rose Program — will conclude on Dec. 12 on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico.
2017 marks the 57th year of the program which began in 1960 to honor the Blessed Virgin under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. The program has continued since then as a project of Knights of Columbus councils and Fourth Degree assemblies in several jurisdictions.
Today, six Silver Roses travel through North America exemplifying Knights of Columbus devotion to Our Lady and commitment to the Culture of Life.

Come learn what’s happening in your backyard at the free Customer Service Workshop sponsored by the Forks Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, May 9, at the Rainforest Arts Center, 35 N. Forks Ave. There will be two sessions: 9-11:30 a.m and 5-7:30 p.m.
