The Clallam Bay School Environmental Club hosted a National Wildfire Preparedness Day and Awareness event at the Clallam County Fire District 5 on May 6. Refreshments, Smokey Bear (costume/goodie bags for the little ones, supplied by DNR-Forks), and musical entertainment provided by Mary Meyer on guitar, Barney Munger on banjo, and Spider (Roy Wright) on bass, were present at the fun-filled day.

The event was held to uphold the club’s obligation for winning a $500 grant from the National Fire Protection Association and State Farm Insurance Agency. The money was applied to a Donor’s Choose program (which matched the grant) for the purchase of rain gear and boots.
