Forks and Clallam Bay libraries debut Circus Cinema
Big Fish directed by Tim Burton and starring Albert Finney, Jessica Lange, and Ewan McGregor will show at the Forks Branch Library on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and at the Clallam Bay Branch Library on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Showtime is 7:00 p.m. at both venues.
Big Fish presents the story of a son attempting to reconcile the truth of his father’s life with the larger than life stories his father has always told about his days in the circus, meetings with witches and giants and other extraordinary events. The film is rated PG -13. Seating is limited. Free tickets to the film will be available at each library on the day of the show.
Big Fish provides local audiences an opportunity to consider the intersection between reality, truth and the “big fish” stories we tell. Readers can explore the theme further in the book on which the film is based: Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions by David Wallace. Other books about the power of stories and storytelling are also available from the library.
This film is open to the public and is also part of the Winter Reading Circus: A Library Reading Program for Adults.Joining the program is easy. Visit your local branch and sign up. Participants in the Winter Reading Circus are encouraged to read or listen to at least five books by March 20 and to attend circus themed events such as this film. As an added bonus, those who finish five books will receive a reusable Winter Reading Circus tote bag and be entered in grand prize drawings for a NOOK e-reader or an overnight stay at Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park. Earn additional chances to win either prize by coming to the movie. The Winter Reading Circus is made possible by the Forks and Clallam Bay Friends of the Library.
