Dear Editor,
On January 21, 2018, the Congregational Church had their Sunday Worship and Annual Meeting even though the power was out. Philip Sharpe came down early and hooked up his generator for power for the coffee pot. We Congregationalist are a hearty bunch and our forefathers did a good job of designing the church with plenty of light so we wouldn’t miss a beat, even when the power is out.
The meeting was lead by outgoing Moderator Bryon Monohon and several reports were given, a lengthy discussion on partnership in community and election of new board members.
Overall census was that by opening our doors to several organizations in our community we have built a relationship with those organizations that you can not put a price tag on. Plus it has strengthened what we can accomplish as a church body of believers for the overall good of the community we live in. A Big thanks go out to Soroptimist of the Olympic Rain Forest, West End Business, Forks Elks Lodge and others who have supported us in our mission of serving our Community. We could of not of done as good of a job as we did putting on different events for our community without the support and partnership of these groups.
A special thanks goes to Pastor Andy Pursley and The Assembly of God Church, Pastor Tom Lafrenz and The Nazarene Church, Pastor Pam Hunter and the Lutheran Church for the Ecumenical partnership and moving God’s Kingdom forward in our community. Words cannot express the appreciation that I feel from your support and from your congregations’ support to make this a great place to work in the ministry.
We elected new board members for the upcoming year; they were as follows:
Moderator Roger Lien
Vice Moderator Juanita Weissenfels
Secretary Cathy Johnson
Treasurer Edith Henry
Trustee Chair Bob Henry
Because we are a Congregational Church all members of the Church can attend board meetings and have a vote and are encouraged to attend.
In closing I would like to thank all the friends of our Church (friends of the Church are people that support our mission in serving the community, either financially or by donation or by donating your time to help) there are too many to name and I know that you do what you do not for recognition. At this time I would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting us in accomplishing the task that God has set before us.
Many Blessings
Pastor Johnson
