“The Parlor”
Once upon a time, the Vagabond was the happening place in downtown Forks and slowly the building that once was the Vagabond is coming back to life.
The building was purchased in 2015 by TSD Corporation for $50,000 and since then owner Dan Thomson and business partner Sheila Kenney have done extensive work — fixing the roof, remodeling the front of the building and re-doing all the windows including the former garden room of the restaurant.
Jaymi Goetze has occupied the building for a while now, offering painting classes and art shows. Soon, Jackie-Luke Dean will open a restaurant called The Parlor.
According to Dean, The Parlor will offer soups, sandwiches and a changing daily menu that will feature fresh and healthy meals … but also if you have a hankering for some “fair food,” she will have that, too.
“We will have cotton candy and elephant ears,” Dean said. “We will also offer vegan, non-dairy ice cream and homemade ice creams.”
The decor offers picnic tables and Dean shared that there is still decorating to do on the walls. In the kitchen, she is waiting for new fryers. The future menu may also include some exotic items such as rattle snake and zebra tarantula!
“Dan, Sheila and I have built pretty much everything,” Dean said.
The Parlor will be family owned and operated.
Dean said she has been in the business before operating a food truck in the Neah Bay area.
In addition to the restaurant, a gift shop will also be opening in the former Garden Room.
Another aspect of the business may be the offering of micro-loans to those interested in opening small artsy-type businesses.
The date for the grand opening is not set yet, but the hours of operation will be 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, closed Sunday and Monday. In the summer season, Dean plans to offer some outside seating and to be open seven days a week.
Lost dog …UPDATE: She is home!!
Have you seen Eleanor? On Tuesday, March 20, around 5 p.m., Eleanor got away from her person while she was visiting on Big Pine Way. Shortly after she was seen at Huckleberry Lodge and then in my yard at the end of Merchant Road, and now nothing … She is a small white dog with a min-pin looking face, pink collar and she is micro-chipped.

“All or part of the bail could be refunded when a person appears in court, but most of the time bail is refunded when the case comes to disposition — guilty plea, dismissal, continuances for dismissal.”
