Are you aware of all the great things Soroptimists do in our community? Scholarships, health and hygiene kits, mammograms for those in need, they even adopted the Forks Jr. High and provide gifts for students of the month and support the honor roll breakfast. They also offer men and women cancer patients help with travel expenses.
SIORF does these things through funds raised at the annual Festival of Trees, as well as grants and donations. The group recently took over the prom dress exchange started by Lauren Decker and are also offering a few second hand items of clothing for sale as well as medical equipment loan all housed in their little shop on Spartan Ave.
Pat Kain said, “We are fortunate to have Edna Leppell allow us to be here, we just have to pay our utilities. Many thanks to Edna!” Pat shared that 95 percent of the organization’s activities are directed locally.
The shop on Spartan is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-4 p.m. and Saturday 1-4 p.m. Need a wedding dress? They have a few. They also have scrubs, and a number of items still have the tags on them.
Pat asked that people not just drop off donations, please call 360-640-1494 or 360-640-3186. For questions about medical equipment call Suzy at 360-374-9496 ext. 2.
The objective of Soroptimists is to better the lives of women and girls, so that they might achieve their highest potential. Stop by the little shop located next door to Leppell’s Flowers and help support SIORF and their mission in our community and around the world.
