Emergency Preparedness Work Group
Meeting
The West Jefferson County Emergency Preparedness Work Group will be meeting again on Saturday, June 16, at the Queets/Clearwater School from 10 a.m. – noon. This meeting will be followed by a meeting of the Quinault Amateur Radio Club from noon – 1 p.m. All are invited.
We have located landing areas for small engine planes and helicopters and will be inviting community members to participate in trainings to facilitate landing and placing injured people in them. We will also be developing communications protocols to help coordinate these activities.
There will be a free DART (Disaster Airlift Rescue Team) ground school training on Saturday, July 28 at the Forks Airport. The time has not been set yet. We are continuing to put together our emergency radio net combining ham, CB and walkie-talkie radios and invite all interested people to attend one or both of these meetings. Car Seat Clinic
Come have your child’s car seat checked for defects, recalls, correct fit and installation on Saturday, June 23 from 12:30-2:30 p.m., at the Forks Fire Department, 11 N. Spartan Ave.

Forks Assembly
of God VBS
Forks Assembly of God, 81 Huckleberry Lane, will hold its annual Vacation Bible School Sunday, July 15, through Thursday, July 19, from 6-8:30 p.m. each day.
Fun activities are planned for children ages 4-11 years old.
Summer Teacher
Workshop in Olympic National Park
Teachers are invited to join NatureBridge and the National Park Service for Learning from a Distance, a four-day summer workshop in Olympic National Park to be held Aug. 6-9. Participants will hear from National Park Service rangers and researchers, discover the rich resources Olympic National Park has to offer and learn ways to connect students to the park via technology.
The workshop will be held at the NatureBridge campus in Olympic National Park located on the shores of Lake Crescent. The tuition for the workshop is $200. The National Park Service will provide free Washington State STEM clock hours and 100 percent tuition reimbursement with course completion and submission of a lesson plan. Participants will:
Learn about technology that will connect students in the classroom to a wealth of educational opportunities available through Olympic National Park.
Collaborate with grade level peers in creating classroom content to use with Olympic National Park’s distance learning programs.
Explore different Olympic National Park ecosystems that may include the Hoh Rain Forest, Ruby Beach, and Hurricane Ridge.
Learn about robust curriculum connections to park cultural and natural resources.

Forks Bible Church Veterans Day Event Planned
The Forks Bible Church, 780 G. St., is planning a special service on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in honor of Veterans Day. The community, veterans and their families are invited to attend. There will be a special musical tribute and a social hour following the service.
Immunization Clinic
Monday, June 18
The next immunization clinic at the Forks office of Health & Human Services (the Health Dept.) at 140 C. St. in Forks will be on Monday, June 18. Clinics are also scheduled for July 23 and Aug. 27. All clinics are from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., by appointment only. Call 360-374-3121 to schedule an appointment.
Payment is by cash or check only, Medicaid can be billed.
If you have a different medical insurance, you will be given a receipt to submit to your insurance and/or flexible spending HSA for reimbursement.
WEBPA upcoming
speakers
West End Business and Professional Association speakers for the balance of June will be Dale Wilson on June 20, Wilson is running for Clallam County Commissioner District III. On June 27, Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict will be the program.
In July, there will be no meeting on July 4, on July 11, Selinda Barkuis, candidate for Clallam County Prosecutor will be the program. The speaker on July 18, will be Julie Gardiner, candidate for Director, Clallam County Department of Community Development and on July 25, current DCD Director, Mary Ellen Winborn will speak.
WEBPA meets on Wednesday mornings from 7:30-8:30 a.m., at the Forks Congregation Church on Spartan Ave. The community as well as new members are always welcome.
Chamber Programs
The Forks Chamber of Commerce meets at noon, on Wednesdays, at Blakelsee’s Bar and Grill.
On June 20, current Clallam County Commissioner District III, Bill Peach, will be the guest speaker. Peach is running for his position again. On June 27, Clallam County PUD Commissioner Ted Simpson, will be the program. Simpson is also running for re-election.
The Forks Chamber will take a summer break in July and August and meetings will resume on Sept. 5.
Chamber meetings are open to the public and new members are always welcome.
Bogachiel Garden Club meeting and Potluck June 20
The Bogachiel Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, June 20, at the Forks Community Center on Maple Ave., Garden Club will not meet in July and August, but garden tours will continue.
The June meeting will honor outgoing club officers Judi McClanahan, Kris Ayers, Tina Adams, and Barb Scott and install new officers Tina Adams-President, Linda Wells-Vice President, Christi Baron-Secretary, Gayle Mousis-Treasurer, and Candice Bettelyoun-Historian.
Fried chicken will be provided by the club and members are asked to bring a dish. New members are always welcome dues are $15 per year.
WEHS Meeting June 19
The topic of the June West End Historical Society meeting will be … “What do you collect?” Club and community members are encouraged to bring samples of their collections. Do you have an old hat? Vintage aprons? Bring those too!
Meetings begin at noon at the Forks Congregational Church, on Spartan Ave. A lunch of soup, bread and dessert is available for $7. New members are always welcome.
Build a Planter Box with the Home Depot at the Forks Branch Library
Build your own planter with Home Depot during the Library’s Summer Reading Program! Construction will take place Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m., at the Forks Branch Library.
All supplies are generously provided by the Sequim Home Depot and store employees are volunteering their time to offer the workshops. An adult must accompany children under the age of 8. Participants are encouraged to bring their own hammers (if they have them), but, the Library will also have hammers available for use.

New Fourth
of July Event
An Archery Tag tournament is being organized for Saturday, June 30 at Tillicum Park. The tournament is being sponsored by the Forks Old Fashioned 4th of July Committee and organized by FPD Chief Mike Rowley. Proceeds from this tournament will go to support “Chief for the Day” Orlando. Teams will be five person teams consisting of players 12 years and older. Cost will be $5 a person or $25 per team.
What is archery tag?
Archery tag requires no athletic ability or prior skill, offers an interactive experience that is more physical than other activities like laser tag, a safe, family-oriented sport that satisfies the competitive spirit as well as the thrill seeker. The foam tipped arrows are designed to leave no bruising or welts. Combat archery sport, a new and exciting, thrill seeking activity.

Prenatal Drug and Alcohol Exposure: The Lifelong Impact
The Second-Annual Hoh Tribe Prevention Week will present Prenatal Drug and Alcohol Exposure: The Lifelong Impact, on Thursday, June 21 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Hoh Tribal gym, 2464 Lower Hoh Rd.
The presenter will be Christine Miko, MS, Parent Child Assistance Program, First Step Family Support Center.
