Dear Editor,

My name is Rick Porter, many of you know me as Judge Porter of District Court I. I have served as judge for Clallam County District Court I for 16 years and prior to that I worked for prosecuting attorneys Dave Bruneau and Chris Shea. I am also a J.A.G. (Judge Advocate General) for the United States Air Force. I will be retiring from both positions this year and will be off to new adventures, however, before I go, it is my pleasure to endorse my friend and colleague, John Black, for Clallam County District Court II Judge.

I have worked with John since 2000. He knows the law and is both fair and just. He is an advocate for those in recovery and believes in accountability above all else. John has a background in criminal law in which he earned right here in this state and is more than qualified to be a district court judge. John is one of my pro-term judges and fully understands the patience it takes to hear cases.

John isn’t just a listener who takes the time to fully understand how the people feel, but he is also a leader with a vision for District Court II.

John is a hardworking individual and isn’t afraid to make the changes needed to the community. Currently, District Court II is one of the only courts in the state that doesn’t have a DUI/Drug court. Let’s not ignore the fact that we have an enormous drug problem in the entire West End, just as there is throughout our country. Ignoring it will not make it go away! John’s vision to start a DUI/Drug court in District Court II is vital if we are to fight this epidemic.

If you’re looking for a real change in your justice system on the West End, John Black is your man. If you’re looking to modernize your court and want to get to the root of the issues at hand, and not beat around the bush, I highly recommend that you Vote for John Black for District Court II Judge.
