Three candidates vie for Clallam County Fair Royalty

Three young women are candidates for the 2019 Clallam County Fair Royalty. Sammi Bates Port Angeles, Saydee Peters Forks, Rebekah Parker Sequim. Coronation is set for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Exposition Building at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, Port Angeles. Admission is free. Candidates will answer impromptu questions and present a prepared speech as Judges determine who will be queen and princesses. The Clallam County Fair will be held August 15-18, 2019. Royalty court will attend parades, community events and the four days of fair. Scholarships are presented upon high school graduation. 2019 is the Clallam County’s 100th fair. Saydee Peters

Saydee Peters is 18 years old and a senior at Forks High School. Her sponsor is Decker City Hardware. Her mother is Teresah Peters. Saydee has participated in many clubs and activities such as Varsity soccer, Acapella and basketball. She has received State honor roll and Athletics honor awards. Saydee is Vice President for her class. Saydee volunteers at West End Thunder in Forks. Upon graduation, Saydee plans to pursue a degree in criminology and forensic anthropology.

Rebekah Parker

Rebekah Parker is 15 years old and a sophomore at Sequim High School/Olympic Peninsula Academy. Her sponsor is BrokersGroup Real Estate Professionals. Her parents are Chris and LeAnn Parker. Rebekah’s activities are drama, having participated in several plays at Olympic Peninsula Academy. Her hobbies are guitar, piano, photography and singing. Her future educational plans after high school are to receive a AA in Multimedia.

Sammi Bates

Sammi Bates is 18 years old and a junior at Port Angeles High School . Her sponsor is All Metal Recycling. Her parents are Ed and Sue Bates. Sammi is president of Auto Body Collision and Repair/Welding Skills USA and WE club. She does a lot of volunteering in groups such as NOLS, Olympic Humane Society, Port Angeles Food Bank and Olympic Peninsula Assoc. Demolition Drivers. Sammi has volunteered at the Clallam County Fair. Her hobbies are welding and photography. Sammi’s educational plans are to attend Universal Technical Institute in California and go on to an automotive career.
