Zinnia Marie Lato of Coolidge, AZ and Forks WA, passed away Feb. 16, 2019 in Casa Grande, AZ, she was 86 years old. Zinnia was born on March 28, 1932, in a farmhouse in Eau Galle, WI, to Coyd and Gunda (Ringen) Harrigan.
Zinnia attended high school in Durand, WI. She met the love of her life, Louis Lato, and the couple married on June 22, 1961, they made their home in Menomonie, WI where they had two children; a son Randy and a daughter Sandy. Zinnia and Louis were married for 57.5 years.
Zinnia worked as a dietician at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI and in Menomonie, WI.
In 1968 the family moved to Forks, WA where they made their home for over 40 years. Zinnia worked at the school kitchen where she was the head baker.
Zinnia loved to dance and sing and was a great yodeler. She also liked to impersonate Elvis! Zinnia enjoyed traveling and one of her favorite spots was the beach.
Zinnia was a very religious lady and she lived a very good life. But, most of all she always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. She loved kids and enjoyed having them around her and they loved her. She will be greatly missed. We love you to the moon and back!
She is preceded in death by her parents Coyd and Gunda Harrigan and brothers Wayne and Kenny Harrigan of Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband Louis Lato and children Randy Lato and Sandy Klahn of Forks; sisters Janet Wolf of Eau Clarie, WI and Sharon Prissel of Forks; also grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday, March 2, 2019 beginning with a viewing at 10:30 a.m., followed by services at 11:30 a.m., at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 511 5th Ave., Forks, with Rev. Francis Arulappan officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Forks Cemetery with a reception following at St. Anne’s Church Hall.
In Lieu of flowers, there is a memorial fund set up at First Federal Bank in Zinnia’s name to help with funeral expenses.
