After a championship in 2011 and a runner-up finish in 2012, Neah Bay’s Red Devils look to continue their strong run through their 1B 8-man schedule.
It starts though with an 11-man matchup against 2B Darrington after the Devils’ opening foe Taholah cancelled Friday night’s game because they did not have enough players to field a squad.
The game will be played at Chief Leschi High School in Puyallup.
The Neah Bay home opener will be Oct. 4 against mainland mainstays Lummi.
Farther east, the Clallam Bay Bruins kick off the season with a veteran running back core of seniors Matt Mohr and Calvin Ritter to lead the squad through its campaign.
A quarterback battle between junior Kelly Gregory and sophomore Kyle Keys will give the team a mix of savvy and speed.
The Bruins are slated to kick off the season Saturday at Wishkah. Their home opener is set for Friday, Sept. 13, against Muckleshoot.
