Participants will hear from National Park Service rangers and researchers, discover the rich resources Olympic National Park has to offer, and learn ways to connect students to the park via technology.

The National Park Service will provide 20 free Washington State clock hours and 100% tuition reimbursement with course completion and submission of a lesson plan.

Participants will:

Gather detailed information about Olympic National Park’s cultural and natural resources from national park staff during informal lectures, interviews and online distance learning opportunities.

Visit distinct habitats of Olympic National Park including lowland old growth forest, coastal marine shoreline and dynamic river riparian zone to observe impacts of humans on the environment.

Collaborate with grade level peers to create a robust lesson plan for the K – 12 classroom using Olympic National Park’s cultural and natural resources. Lesson plans meeting standards will be published on the National Park Service’s Education website.
