On July 9, at around 5 p.m., a man was walking his dog on the 2800 block of East Myrtle Street in the unincorporated area of Clallam County just east of the City of Port Angeles. During his walk the male saw a male and female walking in the area. The male walking with the female was yelling at her.

This disturbance drew the attention of the man walking his dog. The man walking his dog then observed the couple walking towards a residence that the dog walker knew the couple did not belong, which caused the dog walker to contact the couple.

The male confronted the dog walker by telling him to mind his own business while pointed a chrome semi-automatic handgun at the dog walker’s head. As this was occurring, the dog walker’s wife drove past the assault to see what was going on. At that point, the male with the gun pointed the pistol at her.

The man with the gun was known to the dog walker’s wife who positively identified him as Toka John Lavacca, a 40-year male who is believed to be transient, but staying at residences in the area.

The man walking his dog and his wife were not injured, however, were very shaken by the event.

Officers with the Port Angeles Police Department performed a K-9 track in the area, while Troopers with the Washington State Patrol helped Deputies set up containment.

The female walking with Lavacca was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant.

Lavacca remains at large. Lavacca should be considered armed and dangerous. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Lavacca or sees him to call the Sheriff’s Office at (360) 417-2459 or in case of an emergency 911.

Lavacca’s criminal history includes convictions for residential burglary and misdemeanor assaults. Lavacca is described as being a white male, about 5 foot 7 inches, 155 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.
