Van – Log truck accident

The La Push Road was fully blocked, for seven hours, last Wednesday, as the WSP investigated a minivan vs. Log truck accident near MP 2. Washington State reported the accident occurred just before 11 a.m.

Thirty-three-year-old Devere W. Sanchez was transported to Forks Community Hospital and later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the minivan he was driving collided with a fully-loaded log truck, according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the log truck, David E. Beebe, 68, was not hurt. Both drivers were from Forks.

Troopers said Sanchez’s 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan was westbound on State Highway 110 when he crossed the center line as he negotiated a curve and collided with the Peterbilt log truck which was traveling eastbound.

The road was closed until just after 6 p.m. causing many to use “back-roads” to get to where they needed.

The logs did not spill in the crash and were later moved to a different log truck, the State Patrol said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and according to the WSP Press Memo charges are pending for Sanchez.

The Sanchez vehicle was totaled and the log truck had reportable damage and was driven from the scene.
