Forks went out fighting in a Class 2B Southwest District Volleyball Tournament quarterfinal loss to Napavine on Wednesday.

The young Spartans spikers scrapped with the senior-laden Tigers in the first two games but ultimately fell 25-22, 25-21, 25-10.

“Though it was a strange year due to COVID restrictions, it was an overall success for our young team — only having three seniors,” Forks coach Jenn LeDuke said. “Making it to the second round of playoffs in our first year in this new league is a huge stepping stone for our young team.”

Kyra Neel led the Spartans with 10 kills and added two assists and an ace.

“Kyra Neel had a great match last night, some hard kills and great saves all over the court,” LeDuke said.

Kadie Wood chipped in with two kills and two aces.

“Kadie Wood was all over the floor, saving rallies and digging some hard balls,” LeDuke said.

Kray Horton was perfect on serves with two aces.

“Kray Horton stayed strong with her serving last night with 100 percent [accuracy],” LeDuke said. “She did get hurt early in the second set, rolling her ankle, and that took her out of the match. LillyAnn Crowell did well stepping in for senior Kray.”

Freshman Kaidence Rigby posted seven kills, an ace and an assist.

“Kaidence Rigby played tough at the net last night and all season long,” LeDuke said. “She had a great first year as a freshman.”

Kesia Rowley dished out 17 assists and had two kills and an ace.

“Kesia stepped in as our setter the last two matches and really did amazing,” LeDuke said. “She also has a tough serve.

“Colbie Rancourt stayed sharp with her serving. She has been one of our ace servers. Elizabeth Soto also came off the bench for Colbie and did a great job passing, getting us a side out.”

Forks finished with a 6-4 record and will graduate Horton, Rowley and Rancourt.

“Thank you to all that worked so hard for these kids to have a season,” LeDuke said.
