These handmade metal cutouts were created by craftsmen from the Olympic Corrections Center (OCC) in Clearwater and appear ready to auctioned on Sunday, March 18 at the annual Quillayute Valley School District Scholarship Auction held in the Forks High School Commons. OCC Superintendent John Aldana spoke at the Wednesday, March 21 meeting of the Forks Chamber of Commerce held at JT’s Sweet Stuffs. Aldana said a tally provided by Quillayute Valley School District Scholarship Auction organizers showed the OCC metal art sold for a total of $3,175, wood crafts from their toy shop went for $5,221 and firewood cut by inmates at the work camp went for $2,815.  The highest price paid for a single OCC item at the auction was $500 for a ceder hope chest.
