Remember the first installment of property taxes are due soon. Mailed payments must be postmarked, put in a drop box, or brought to the Treasurer’s Office by Tuesday, April 30 to avoid penalty and interest charges.
Taxes may be paid in person at the Jefferson County Courthouse Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
There are four drop boxes in Jefferson County for payment by check throughout the month of April:
Drop box in rear parking lot of the courthouse
• Port Townsend 1st Security Bank of Washington
• Port Hadlock 1st Security Bank of Washington
• Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank
Credit card payments may be made online at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/329/Treasurer or by phone 1-877-812-8072. Instructions for both are on the back of the tax statement, and a 2.5 percent fee is charged by the service provider for credit card payments.
Electronic checks may be used to make payments, and a $2.00 service fee is charged by the provider. Go to the Jefferson County Treasurer’s webpage for instructions and fee amounts www.co.jefferson.wa.us/329/Treasurer
