Relay For Life of Forks
Aug. 4, 6-11 p.m.
Relay For Life is back to “Finish the Fight” against cancer with a street fair in downtown Forks on Aug. 4 from 6-11 p.m. “Friday Night Lights” is the sports-related theme for this year’s event. Entertainment will start on the steps of the RAC at 5 p.m. with Crescent Blue. At 6 p.m. Forks Avenue will be closed to traffic for a street fair and dance.
A Celebration of Survivors will take place during opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. All cancer survivors young and old will be honored, followed by a survivor/caregiver “lap.” Relay sponsors will be recognized at 7 p.m. Forks sets the Olympic Peninsula record for sponsorships with over 30. Festivities continue throughout the evening with games, food and live entertainment provided by local talent: Forkestra at 6:30 p.m., Maybe Next Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. Dancing in the street begins at 9 p.m. with music provided by deejay Juan Almazan.
A Sack Tournament for ages 14 and older will begin at 7 p.m., weather permitting. Pre-registration is recommended by calling Mike Hirsch at 360-870-1100. A Photo Scavenger Hunt begins at 7:30 p.m.
During the Luminaria Ceremony at 10 p.m., friends and family lost to the disease will be remembered and people who have fought or are fighting cancer will be honored.

The money raised enables the American Cancer Society to continue to save lives and create more birthdays through their important work of research, education, advocacy and patient services.
