Julie Smathers
Julie Smathers is one of the new recruits for the Forks Fire Department. She has been with the department for 5 months. Julie said that what drew her to be a firefighter is that some of her family are firefighters and she wanted to follow in their footsteps.
Julie really likes the camaraderie of being part of a firefighter team and the feeling of teamwork when they all work together. She said that the men and women of the Forks Fire Department are reliable, punctual and support one another. When asked what she would like the community to know about our firefighters, she stated, “We are all here for the same reason, to protect and help our community, we are united.”
Chief Bill Paul said that Julie will be going through the Firefighter 1 training very soon, and that she has been a great addition to the department and her strengths are her motivation, her eagerness to learn and her willingness to work as a part of a team to help our community.
When you see Julie out and about in Forks, please thank her for her selfless volunteer work for our community. If you are interested in becoming a part of this very special group of men and women who stand together to assist our community, please see Chief Paul at the Forks Fire Station.
