Dear Editor,
A few weeks ago all the students at Forks Elementary School came home with a Walkathon packet to raise money for the PTO. I also noticed several announcements asking for volunteers for this event. I asked the president of the PTO, Kim Leppell, if there was something I could do besides attending the event. She asked if I could help fill the day with volunteers. They were having difficulty getting people to help and maybe a new voice or face would bring in more volunteers.
I asked her how much they raised last year and it was $7,000. She said this was enough to pay for all the family nights and special events that they sponsored at the school. She said this fundraiser is great because it was one big event and not a bunch of little fundraisers.
As parents and family members of students at FES we would all love to be hit up one time. I am writing this letter to let the community know of the event and to remind parents to volunteer. It is a fun and rewarding way to raise money for the PTO. The children have a great time. Please call me at 640-2464 if you would like to help out. The Walkathon is scheduled to be held on May 25.
