1995 – Dry windy weather sparked a forest fire near Olympic Corrections Center. DNR and OCC inmate crews brought the blaze under control after three days. Corlie Whitehead was surprised to learn she would be the Grand Marshal for the Forks Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade.
1970 – Forks Forum Editor Nedra Reed shared an editorial questioning “What has become of our Country?” …Mrs. Travers and Mrs. Georges’ music pupils held a spring program. Solos were played by Kathy, Tomi, and Julie Mansfield.
1945 – It was front-page news that canning sugar rations were cut to just 10 pounds. There was a dance at the IOOF Hall featuring music by Jackie Streeter and her All-Girl Orchestra.
