BGC hears about garden safety and counts potatoes

After the summer gardening break the Bogachiel Garden Club resumed monthly meetings on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Community center on Maple Avenue. The program was EMT Tim Wade. Tim has been an EMT for eleven years and shared some tips on being safe while gardening.

Tim said the number one call the ambulance receives is falls. Some safety rules in the garden are being aware, taking care with sunburns and heat, and wearing layers and using the proper equipment. Other topics touched on were bee stings and choking when alone.

The group also gathered up the potatoes that were grown in the bag project. The harvest was lighter than expected and there were theories on too much heat …too much rain or what growing conditions affected the outcome.

The BGC will meet in October on the 16th at 1 p.m. at the Community Center at 1 p.m. New members are always welcome and dues are $20.
