National Vietnam War Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony

Clallam County Veterans Association & Michael Trebert Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution are offering a Commemorative “Lapel Pin” Ceremony on Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at the Northwest Veterans Resource Center-MEMORIAL HALL located at 216 S. Francis Street, Port Angeles.

The local DAR Chapter, Michael Trebert continues the 4th year as the Department of Defense Vietnam Veteran Commemorative Partner for the North Olympic Peninsula. The Commemorative Partner Program is designed for local communities to assist a grateful nation in thanking and honoring our Vietnam veterans and their families with a ceremony and distribution of lapel pins.

The Program specifies that a Vietnam Veteran is anyone who was on active duty in the US Armed Forces, Nov. 1, 1955-May 15, 1975, regardless of location of service. Any Vietnam veteran, surviving spouse, and families are requested to RSVP to reserve a lapel pin.

The 30-minute patriotic ceremony is open to the public and will begin promptly at 2 p.m. The Cat’s Meow will play patriotic music starting at 1:30 p.m. Master of Ceremonies, Levi Douglas, Clallam County Veterans’ Program Coordinator will lead the ceremony. The ceremony is a memorable occasion that shows sensitivity and appreciation for the solemnity of war and the losses suffered by many. Following the ceremony, a cookie reception is offered.
