Many are aware of Ruth’s antics after the Seahawks lose, so in keeping with the Christmas spirit of giving and even though Ruth “dislikes” the Hawks, I have written the following and dedicate it to her. Ruth is a wonderful person and just has that one little problem …
Ode to Ruth
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the west,
The Seahawks were playing, they were playing their best;
The stockings were hung by the big screen with care,
In hopes that Russell Wilson would throw passes with flair;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of them sleeping all night danced in my head;
With mother in her Seahawks jersey and me in my NFL cap,
We settled in to watch the game, the cat in my lap,
When out on the street I heard such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
The cat went a-flying, with a mighty big crash.
I threw open the door and what did I see?
By golly, by golly … it was Ruthy!
She was riding her ATV dressed in 49er’s Gear,
And was that Frankie Valli, that I hear?
The music was blasting she was singing along,
But the game wasn’t over yet it was too early for a song!
And then in a twinkle, I heard something in the air,
It was handfuls of candy she was throwing there!
A wink of her eye and a twist of her head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
She spoke not a word, just kept singing away,
And filled all the stockings, it was time for the first play!
She then sprang to her ATV and gave a big whistle,
And off she went like the down of a thistle,
But I heard her exclaim as she drove out of sight,
“I might be back later if the Seahawks lose tonight!”
Merry Christmas to all! Especially Ruth!!
