VFW Auxiliary of Fletcher-Wittenborn Post 9106, Forks, is seeking patriotic men and women to join them in making a difference in the lives of veterans, active-duty military and their families.
“The Auxiliary provides members an opportunity to honor and give back to all who have served, and who are serving, this great nation. It’s our chance to say ‘thank you’ to them for their sacrifice,” said Auxiliary President Janet Hughes.
The Auxiliary is in need of members to share in the fun and service. Our mission is to support Veterans and their families and serve our community. Both men and women can be a member of the Auxiliary if they have a Veteran who served in a Foreign War or conflict. A VFW member or Veteran of a foreign war can sponsor a spouse, child or step-child, grandchild (16 and up), mother or father to be an Auxiliary member. Our meetings are held the second Wednesday at 7 pm and kids are always welcome. (This is the same time as the Post meets.) To join our Auxiliary, dues are $25 per year, or one can choose to be a lifetime member.
Beyond the friendships made and service to the community, there are several wonderful benefits also available to Auxiliary Members. There are cancer grants available should the member ever suffer from cancer. Grants are awarded quickly as soon as the cancer form is filled out. One may use these funds for travel, lodging, food, etc… The funds are not designated. Nationally, we also offer continuing education scholarships for the member, child or grandchild once they’ve been a member for 3 years. Take advantage of our reduced or free VFW hall rentals for events (if available). In addition, a copy of the VFW Auxiliary magazine is sent to see what other Auxiliaries are doing throughout the nation. There are many more opportunities, far too many to list here today.
The VFW Auxiliary’s tagline is “Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes™” and for more than 100 years, the National Organization has been supporting the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving veterans and their families, active-duty military and their families, and spreading patriotism nationwide.
